Would there be a significant effect to the importation of drugs to the Island if the constabulary was in charge of security at both Ronaldsway and the Sea Terminal?
On Manx Radio's Perspective programme this week, the Chief Constable Gary Roberts says he would 'relish the opportunity' to take control of the Island's borders.
Meanwhile, the Home Affairs Minister Bill Malarkey says it's something that's being debated:
And today, a spokesperson from the Department of Home Affairs said: "the department is continuing to look at ways to ensure that our Island remains safe, including reducing as far as possible the threat from those who want to travel here to carry out crime.
"This is only something which can be done through collaboration with the different parts of government with responsibility for securing our borders, so we're working closely with our partners to try and achieve this."
