Environmental group targets young people and schools
A group of student climate strikers says it wants to reduce the carbon footprint of schools and give more of a voice to young people on the Island.
The Isle of Man Schools Climate Network, founded by pupils from Castle Rushen and Ballakermeen on social media, formed after they staged a walkout from their lessons in March.
They said it was to bring attention to the climate crisis and lack of government action.
Today, the group is hosting a launch event at the Manx Legion in Douglas at 7pm, which is free to the public.
The next student climate strike is planned for Friday 24 May.
One of the organisers, Emily Thompson, told Manx Radio what the student climate network is setting out to achieve.
