The swing bridge in Ramsey has closed to traffic and pedestrians to allow work to be carried out to replace a vital part of the mechanism.
The signs went up at 6am today (Monday) and will remain in place until 6pm on Sunday (June 20).
What's known as a 'slew ring' is being replaced, the existing one being around 100 years old.
A new part has been manufactured and is being fitted by blacksmiths from the Department of Infrastructure's Works Division.
Political member of the department Graham Cregeen, MHK, says every effort will be made to complete the work on time, so the bridge can be reopened before the full closure of Bowring Road on June 28.
He says he is delighted that all the work can be done 'on Island', without the need for specialist contractors from the United Kingdom.
