Substance ban carries jail term of up to seven years
Treasury has taken what its called a pragmatic response to what could be a major problem.
It comes after a blanket ban was announced on legal highs - bringing Manx law in line with the UK.
Those caught with the substances - including laughing gas and synthetic cannabis substitutes - could now face up to seven years in prison.
Treasury Minister Eddie Teare says the legal highs are not largely consumed by Islanders.
But explained why the decision was made to ban them.
