Port Erin man failed to stop for officers
An 18-year-old from Port Erin has been fined after fleeing police when they tried to stop his car.
Charles Sigley, of Bradda Road, appeared before magistrates at Douglas courthouse.
He admitted failing to stop for police, failing to display R-plates, and driving without due care and attention.
The court heard officers on patrol spotted him driving erratically shortly before midnight on 2 February.
Police followed him from Station Road in Port Erin, lighting their blue flashing lights and sounding their siren.
But Sigley sped off, eventually abandoning his car on Surby Road before handing himself in the next day.
His advocate told the court he’d valeted his car and forgotten to put his R-plates back on, panicking when police tried to pull him over.
He was fined a total of £300, ordered to pay £50 costs and must display his R-plates for an extra year.
