Over 3000 people take part in RNLI event
An ambush of the normally isolated Tower of Refuge last weekend has been hailed a great success.
On Sunday (12th Aug) more than 3,000 people donned wellingtons and marched out to the iconic landmark.
Organised by the Douglas Coastguard crew, the rare walk to Conister Rock was in aid of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
The event had a carnival vibe to it with live bands and fairground rides on the prom and a sandcastle-building contest held on the beach.
Tower Insurance, which is celebrating its 90th anniversary, sponsored the event for the seventh year running.
