While UK penalties rise, figures fall on Isle of Man for parents of absentees
Fines to parents for their children's truancy have dropped by 40% in the last year.
That's according to investigations and education liaison manager at the Department of Education and Children, Pauline Garcia.
It follows news in the UK that prosecutions to parents have gone up by 25%.
Island figures show penalties went down from 20 fines to 12 in the last year, and no parent or guardian went to court.
