Court told the actions were 'out of character for both men'
Twin brothers have been fined after assaulting a man outside the Saddle Inn on 10 July.
Carl McCabe, of Mephan Street, Perth, and Ryan McCabe, of Hildesley Road, Douglas, appeared before Magistrates at Douglas Courthouse.
The court heard the 28-year-olds had interrupted several people during karaoke within the pub when the complainant confronted them.
When he later went outside for a cigarette, the brothers ran towards him, landing several blows and ending up in a scuffle on the floor before a gathered crowd then separated the three men.
The court heard the brothers ran from police when they arrived, and Ryan McCabe resisted arrest.
Their advocate told the court the actions were 'out of character for both men'; putting it down to 'hijinks during karaoke' which 'spiralled outside'.
Ryan McCabe's advocate confirmed he later 'shook the officer's hand and apologised for his behaviour'; before adding that the incident 'hasn't gone down well with his new bride', as the pair were on a night out the day before his wedding.
Fining Carl £500 and ordering him to pay £100 in compensation and £125 in prosecution costs; Magistrates told him: "This was a totally unnecessary, unwarranted assault. It's not on."
Fining Ryan £900 and ordering him to pay £100 in compensation and £125 in prosecution costs; Magistrates told him: "You live here. You know it's a safe place. You spoilt somebody's evening."
