'New face' chases seat in Ramsey

'A new face for a new approach'.

That’s how an election candidate in Ramsey is describing his challenge.

Forty-four-year-old civil servant John McDonough is the fourth candidate to announce he will be bidding for one of the two seats in the town, in next month's House of Keys general election.

He believes the current administration is suffering from a lack of new ideas and is offering a fresh perspective.

Mr McDonough is married with a six-year-old son and has lived in Ramsey for the past 32 years.

Among his proposals are a call for more transparency, for government satellite offices to be set up outside Douglas and for members of Tynwald to start paying towards their pensions.

The three other candidates are sitting members Allan Bell and Anne Craine, and former member of Tynwald Leonard Singer.

The general election is on Thursday, September 29.
