38-year-old now targeting return in Turkey later this month
Astana Qazaqstan has announced some changes to Mark Cavendish's racing schedule.
The team has confirmed the 38-year-old's programme for the coming weeks is being altered due to recent sickness and subsequent period of recovery.
As a result, he will miss the Schelderprijs classic in Belgium tomorrow (3 April) and is now targeting a return at the Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkiye starting on 21 April.
Head of Performance at Astana Qazaqstan, Vasilis Anastopoulos, says the 'Manx Missile' has resumed training and is 'continuing his preparation for the biggest goals of the season.'
It's also hoped the rider will be fit to take part in the Tour de Hongrie which gets underway on 8 May.
The last time Cavendish raced was during this year's Milano-Torino on 13 March in which he was forced to withdraw mid-race with 'gastrointestinal discomfort.'
