Douglas rider celebrates mountain course win
Strategic pit stops proved decisive as Manx Grand Prix newcomers took to the Mountain Course for the very first time in a competitive race this afternoon (1 September).
Manxman Peter Wilkinson - the quickest man during practice - claimed victory in the Newcomers A race.
He pitted much quicker than second-placed Barry Lee-Evans who was leading going into the final lap.
Darren Cooper was the final man on the podium.
Gary Vines came in first place in the Newcomers B, ahead of Sam Cross and Sean Connelly who finished second and third respectively.
Meanwhile in Class C, it was Elwyn Fryers who proved triumphant, pipping Japanese rider Masayuki Yamanaka to claim victory.
Local man Robert Smith came third.
