Lee Johnston's Ashcourt Racing team withdrawing from racing

Rider himself now exploring options ahead of 2025

Ashcourt Racing - the team which TT competitor Lee Johnston races for - is withdrawing from racing.

The squad's last outing will be the final British Superbike Championship (BSB) round at Brands Hatch on 11-13 October.

Confirming details of the situation in a vlog on his YouTube channel, Johnston says whilst he doesn't know if this a permanent move away from racing by the team it's 'definitely going to be for at least the next two to three years.'

He goes to on to say the reason for the move is that the team owner has 'purchased the company back' and as a result is 'too busy to be able to be involved with running the team.'

The rider himself is describing the situation as difficult and the outfit has played a 'massive part in his life', however Johnston adds he'll be exploring a number of options for his racing career going forward:

With one TT win to his name in in the 2019 Supersport TT Race 1 along with six further TT podiums, Johnston has missed the last two TT meetings.

He was ruled out in 2023 after sustaining severe injuries in a crash at the North West 200 that year before also having to withdraw from this year's racing fortnight after suffering a broken leg in a testing session in Spain in early 2024.

He made his Snaefell Mountain Course return at last month's Manx Grand Prix and went on to finish second in the Lightweight MGP race on the Reed Racing Honda RS250 machine.
