Northerners see off spirited Nomads

Ramsey came from behind to seal a place in the Shimmin Wilson Manx Cup final on Saturday.

They overcame a spirited display by Southern Nomads to emerge 13-5 winners at the Mooragh Park.

In a match in which the kick-off was delayed 45 minutes due to standing water on the pitch, Jacob Callow opened the scoring, finishing a move he started to give Nomads the lead.

The home side came back before the break with a Scott Kneale try levelling matters.

A Fintan Cummins penalty gave Ramsey an 8-5 lead 10 minutes into the second half and they clinched their place in the final with a Craig Long try 10 minutes from time.

Ramsey, who won the cup in 2001, will meet the winners of the other semi-final between holders Douglas and Vagabonds.

In the Shimmin Wilson Manx Shield, Western Vikings are up to fifth after a 21-17 success at Castletown.

Jareth Mackay and Dion Spice notched tries for Town with Spice also adding to his points tally with two conversions and a penalty.

However, Mike Caldwell, Jamie Everitt and Mark Bienvenu all picked up tries for Vikings with Caldwell converting all three as they move just outside the qualification spots for the Shimmin Wilson Manx Trophy.
