Headteacher and deputy 'seconded to other duties'

Letter sent to parents at Rushen Primary School

Parents whose children attend Rushen Primary School have been told the school's headteacher and deputy headteacher are carrying out other duties within the education department.

A letter from the Department of Education, Sport and Culture says the pair will be on secondment until the end of the term.

Simon Murphy of Scoill Phurt le Moirrey has been brought in to oversee leadership at Rushen on a temporary basis until further notice.

In a statement issued to Manx Radio, the department said: "The current headteacher and deputy headteacher of Rushen school have been seconded to other duties within the Department of Education, Sport and Culture until the end of this term.

"To ensure the smooth running of the school and the continuity of learning for children, the DESC has arranged for Simon Murphy to oversee leadership on a temporary basis with immediate effect. Mr Murphy will continue to fulfil his duties at Scoill Phurt le Moirrey, as well as provide leadership support and guidance to the staff and pupils at Rushen."
