Team says move allows them to return to 'full competitiveness' next year

8TEN Racing has announced both Peter Hickman and Davey Todd have withdrawn from the remainder of the 2026 British Superbikes Championship (BSB) season.

In a statement, the team says this is to allow both riders and the team as a whole to focus on returning to 'full competitiveness' in 2027.

The two riders have 17 TT victories between them to date - Hickman took part in this year's racing fortnight on the Snaefell Mountain Course whilst Todd sat out the meeting after being declared medically unfit to take part after a crash at the Daytona 200 in the USA in March.

It's unclear at this stage whether this move has any impact on if Todd can take part in next month's Southern 100 Road Races on the Isle of Man, at which he is the defending solo champion.

Speaking on the decision, Hickman says: "It’s obviously been a difficult call, but the priority is to get back to where I know I can be. The differences in bike spec at BSB makes that progression difficult to manage properly at the moment.

"BSB has been a huge part of my career and I’ve loved every minute of it, but sometimes you have to sit back and prioritise and that’s exactly what we are doing.

"We appreciate this won’t be the news fans wanted to hear, but our focus has to be on returning both the riders and the team to the level of competitiveness that we and our partners expect.”

Hickman will, however, still compete in selected events this year on the same specification machinery he races on the roads.
